Who We Are

The Glendale High School Girls’ team is geared towards increasing players’ skills, knowledge, and team-play to allow them to compete against other top clubs around the country. The goal is to provide players the opportunity to challenge themselves, increase their playing acumen, and heighten their skills. The team is open to rugby players from around the state of Colorado.

Expectations

We expect you to come to trainings and games ready to play!  Come with a willingness to learn, put your best effort in, and be a good teammate. This is a commitment to being a part of the team, attending trainings, and being available for games.  We know circumstances will come up that impact availability, but we are expect an overall commitment.

What You Will Get

  • You will get world class coaching from the Glendale Coaching Staff, which will frequently include guest coaching from American Raptors player and coaching staff.
  • Opportunities to play in matches and tournaments against other Colorado teams.
  • Individual player development profiles to continue your growth

Training

February-May, 2025
Training for Spring 15s is Monday – Thursday 5:00 – 7:00 pm

Cost

Program Dues will only be the cost of USA Rugby and Rugby Colorado registration for our first developmental season. Player dues help to offset costs for athletic trainers, uniforms, tournament fees, etc.

All players must be registered with USA Rugby. Once you fill out the player interest form, instructions on how to register with USAR will be sent out.

Rugby is a sport for all, so no player will be turned away for financial reasons. If you need financial assistance (for dues or anticipated travel) please reach out to the program director, Andie Hammon at ahammon@glendale.co.us

What is the time commitment for the rugby team?
The team typically practices several times a week with games on weekends during the season. We also offer off-season training opportunities. We strive to maintain a balance between sports and academics for all players.
Are there any fees associated with joining the team?
There may be minimal fees to cover uniforms and travel expenses for matches. However, we offer financial aid and fundraising opportunities to ensure that every interested student can participate.
Does the program provide all the necessary equipment?
The program provides team jerseys and other essential gear, but players are expected to have their own mouth guard and appropriate footwear. A detailed list of required and recommended gear will be provided upon joining.
What kind of training can I expect?
Training sessions include skill development, strategic gameplay, strength and conditioning, and team-building exercises. All training is designed to enhance your capabilities as a rugby player while ensuring a fun and safe experience.
How does the team foster a positive environment?

What happens if I miss a practice or game?
We understand that students have other commitments. If you need to miss a practice or game, we ask that you communicate with the coaching staff as early as possible. Consistent attendance, however, is crucial for team development and individual improvement.
