SPRING Try League

Try your rugby skills and play for Glendale Youth Rugby in Rugby Colorado’s Try League. Try teams play in festival-like settings called Jamborees and start out playing 7-a-side or Olympic-style rugby, but progressively build to more numbers as they age. Each Jamboree is hosted by Rugby Colorado where all age levels play at one location on a Saturday in the summer months of May and June.

The program is for current Kindergarten through 8th grade. Players are placed on teams according to age, weight, and ability level. Each team has dedicated coaches week in and week out. Players are given equal amounts of playing time – there are no bench warmers in Try League Rugby.

8 week program – 4/27 – 6/20 (with games on Saturdays from 5/16-6/20 hosted by Rugby Colorado)
Practice is at Infinity Park on Monday and Wednesday from 5:00-6:15/6:30pm.

USA Rugby/Rugby Colorado/Glendale Registration Fees

2025 fees include USA Rugby membership and liability insurance, as well as Rugby Colorado membership. Jerseys are a separate cost. See details below.

8U coed flag: $230 ($219, if played in Fall 2025)
10U coed tackle: $293 ($252, if played in Fall 2025)
12U coed tackle: $293 ($252, if played in Fall 2025)
14U Girls/Boys tackle: $293 ($252, if played in Fall 2025)

The 2025-26 Glendale registration fees include your USA Rugby and Rugby Colorado Try League dues. Below is a breakdown of these dues.

Paid in Playmetrics (club app) registration:

Glendale Rugby Dues – paid PER SEASON of participation and are $115 for all players.

Paid in Rugby Xplorer registration:

USA Rugby and National Council Dues – $15 for flag and $48 for tackle and are only paid once annually. USA Rugby membership will be valid through 8/31/2026.
Rugby Colorado 2026 Try League Dues – paid PER SEASON of participation and are $100 for U8 and $130 for U10-U15.
Rugby Xplorer system fee – $6.75

Please note: Glendale Rugby will never turn players away for financial reasons!

To apply for a financial scholarship, complete the Financial Aid questionnaire DURING registration in Playmetrics.

UNIFORMS

Each player will need to purchase a Try League jersey separate from the registration costs.

Once a player has their jersey, they will not need to purchase another one until they outgrow it or move up from Flag to Tackle. Jerseys are yours to keep.

PLEASE NOTE: the jersey design has been the same since April 2024. If you played in the 2024-25 season(s), it is the same jersey.

Please note: 5 year olds must have participated in 2025’s Fall After-School Rugby and/or 2026’s Spring After-School Rugby, be enrolled in Kindergarten, and be 5 on May 1, 2026.

RULES BY AGE GROUP

Try League consists of a progressive approach to introducing rugby and the contact concepts. As a player ages up the groups, they are exposed to more and more aspects of the game. The specific details of those rules and concepts can be found in Try Rugby Operating Procedures HERE.
